ST JOSEPH SCHOOL, CHHOYGHORIA, BONGAON, a unit of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Calcutta, is an English medium co-educational institution from Nursery to class 3 as on date (year 2019-20). Primarily for catholic children but children of other faiths are also accepted. A new class is being added every year.

HISTORY OF SCHOOL
1975 St Joseph’s School, Bongaon, started as a Bengali medium school by Fr Verghese SDB who also constituted the St Joseph’s Educational Trust, Bongaon, at Chhoyghoria, Bongaon, 24 Parganas (North), West Bengal for educational and charitable activities. The Trust is governed by the Diocese under the Catholic Bishops Conference of India and guided by Catholic Church.

Fr Thomas SDB constructed a new school building and sisters of The Daughters of St Anne helped in running the school.

Various priests took charge and looked after the school and its development.

1989
Bengali medium upgraded to class 4

1993
Sisters of the Apostolic Carmel given charge to run the school.

2016
Sr Lidwin AC, first principal of the school and Fr Anthony Rodrick, Parish Priest changed the medium of instruction from Bengali to English.

2018
Has Nursery to class 3 and a new class is being added every year.
