All students admitted/enrolled in Calcutta Boys’ School will be subject to the Total Personality Development Programme (TPDP) of the School. This will include, along with academics, exposure to Christian prayers and
hymns, compulsory participation in Field Games & Sporting activities, regular health check-ups & counselling sessions.

Classes 1 to 4 : No formal examination or terminal tests will be conducted. Students will be assessed on 2 class assignments, comprising 50 marks each, conducted during the course of the two semesters I and II. The final total will be
on 200 marks. All students who perform satisfactorily in class and obtain the minimum grade required ie 40% and above will be promoted to the next class.
Classes 5 to 8 : Students will be assessed twice a year ie Semesters I & II. Each semester will include one class test of 20+5 marks and one term examination of 75+ 5 marks. The final total will be on 200 marks. The promotion
of a student will be determined on the basis of his total performance during the entire academic year.
Students will be marked on all of their work in the class projects & assignments written work, oral & aural work, response and preparation of daily work at home and in school.
Class 5 - 8 will have 25 marks assessment in GK, MSc, Games, Music and Art based on their class response/performance and projects only. No separate class tests will be conducted in these subjects. Classes 9 to 12 : Students will be
assessed twice a year, ie Semester I, the Final Examination / Pre-Board (Rehearsal) Examinations. Each Assessment/Examination paper will be of 100 marks and will be set as per the Council Regulations/ Rubrics.

General Rules
Strict regularity and punctuality, implicit obedience, maintaining school timings, courtesy in words and deeds, cleanliness of dress and person and proper care of books and school property are expected from every student. Students and
Parents/Guardians must strictly follow the instructions, rules and regulations laid down in this regard.
Every student is allotted a personal SCHOLAR NUMBER which is also written on the Identity card/fee bill book/report card of your ward. Kindly Quote THIS NUMBER along with the name and class of your ward on all correspondence with the
school.
Corporal punishment is barred.
Calcutta Boys’ School does not encourage private tuition to CBS students by members of the CBS teaching or office staff or any member of their families. Parents / Guardians are hereby notified NOT TO APPROACH the Teaching / Office
staff (or their family members) to give or arrange for private tuition to any student of CBS. Willful negligence on this count will lead to disciplinary action against the student concerned.
It is obligatory for all students to speak in ENGLISH when in school. Hindi/Bengali may be spoken during the respective periods ONLY.
Parents /Guardians are requested to immediately intimate the Class Teacher or Principal, in writing, of any changes in the residence/ office address and / contact numbers. Children are not allowed to carry cell phones to school. If any
student is found in possession of one, the same will be confiscated and given to charity.
Students are responsibility to school authorities not only for their conduct in school premises but also for their general behavior outside. Reports of objectionable conduct on the part of any student in or even outside the school will
make him liable for disciplinary action.
Damage done to school property must be made good. Fines may be imposed by the principal for breaches against regularity, discipline rules and loss or damage to school property.

1. Bishop Thoburn Award – Instituted in the year 1897 this Gold Medal and citation is awarded to the most worthy student in the senior
school ( Classes- VI-XII)
2. Sir Robert Laidlaw Award – Instituted in the year 1897 this Silver Medal and citation is awarded to the overall topper in Junior School
(Classes-I-IV)
3. Laidlaw Scholarship – two scholarships of ₹4000/- each awarded from the CBS Endowment Trust to support deserving Christian Students.
4. The Kausik Ghosh Memorial Scholarship – Scholarship of ₹2000/- is awarded to the student in the Science stream promoted to class XII,
securing the highest aggregate marks in English, Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics
5. Prof. Anjali Chatterjee Scholarship – Instituted in the year 1988, this Scholarship of ₹2000/- is awarded to the most meritorious
student passing out of CBS, who is admitted to any recognized medical college in West Bengal.
6. Samarpan Basu Memorial Award- Instituted in the year 2008 two Silver medal awarded to the student securing the highest percentage in (a)
English and (b) physics, Chemistry Maths in the ISC Examination.
7. Goutam Mitra Memorial Shield- Instituted in the year 2009, by the ICSE 1984 Batch, this shield is awarded for excellence in mathematics in the
ICSE Examination.
8. AtriSekhar Ghosh Memorial Awarded- Instituted in the year 2011, this scholarship of ₹12000/- per annum is awarded to the most deserving
student of class IX &X in Computer Science.
9. Ashok Gupta Memorial Award- Instituted in the year 2012, this award of ₹2000/- is awarded to the student securing the highest percentage in
the ICSE Examination.
10. Alfred Martin Scholarship- Instituted in the year 2012, this Scholarship of ₹1000/-, is awarded for excellence in English in the ICSE
Examination.
