The Present
Loyola High School is a Catholic institution established and administered by the Catholic Archdiocese of Kolkata. Established in 1961 by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese, it functions within the rights and powers granted to religious and linguistic minorities by the Constitution of India (Art. 29 and 30).
School is recognized by Education Dept of Govt of West Bengal and under Anglo Indian Board of West Bengal and affiliated to the Indian School Certificate of Secondary Education Examination, Delhi.
It is an English medium school for boys, offering ICSE (Indian Council of Secondary Education, Delhi) and ISC (Indian School Certificate, Delhi) for Commerce and Arts. It caters to students from classes 1-12. Bengali or Hindi is taught as second language from class 1. Apart from prescribed Council subjects, the curriculum includes Religious Instructions (for Catholics), Moral Science (for Non-Catholics), Singing, Computer Science, etc are optional.

Development
One striking feature of the school is the pronounced urge of pupils to perform better despite coming from non-English speaking background. This is remarkably reflected in their results in Board exams.

Admission Formalities
Nursery class: application received in prescribed form generally in October.
Class 11: after the ICSE results - in case of any vacancy few seats are allowed to students other than those of Loyola High School. Enquire at the school office.

Drama, Debate, Elocution, Art, Talent Development, Quiz, Games, Physical Training, Leadership Training Service (LTS) for development of personality, leadership skills and social service, Christian Life Community (CLC) and Young Christian Students (YCS) offer similar training for Catholic students, Educational tours and occasional "Live-ins" wherever and whenever appropriate.

Social:
The Social Service programme of the school requires that each month some leisure time be devoted to actual work with under-privileged members of the society, especially children. Parents are particularly recommended to encourage their ward in the implementation of this programme as it is through this service students learn to appreciate the needs of the country and are motivated to a practical response.
