Christmas is celebrated with great enthusiasm before the children go home for their winter vacation. The year 2019 was no exception. The Primary Wing had organized the Christmas celebration programme on 15th December 2019.

It was an honour to have Father John Tigga present amongst us. The event commenced with the blessing of the crib by Father. Melodious carols were sung by the Heartians which no doubt created a nostalgic impact on everyone present.

Inclusiveness has always been a part of the culture of Sacred Heart School. Hence the Christmas play had the participation of all the students of the Primary Wing. “The Grinch stole the Christmas” as a play is both educative and entertaining. The story revolved around the character of Grinch who evolved into a charitable person from selfish one. We saw how influential a child could be in the molding of a character.

Sacred Heart has never failed to recognize the inborn goodness of a child. Various members of the Sacred Heart family, dressed as Santas gave away gifts to children of the Flame of Hope and to little Heartians. Delicious dinner awaited us as the celebrations ended with the bursting of crackers.

Saraswati Puja
On 29 January 2020, we celebrated Saraswati Puja. On this day, we wear traditional clothes and are supposed to fast till the end of the puja. We break our fast with the’ Prasad’.

Class 11 boys and girls organized the Puja under the guidance of Mrs Das, Mrs Roka and Mrs Gomes. Our day began by settling the pandal and cutting of various fruits like pomegranate, guava, apple, banana for the Prasad. The puja began at the strike of 11 am and continued till 12:30 pm. Thereafter we sought Swarswati’s blessings. Students came to offer their prayers and to receive the divine blessing.

Students of Sacred Heart School from Grade 9 and above are committed to the International Award for Young People Programme. The Award Programme was first introduced in the United Kingdom in 1956 as the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. The aim was to motivate young people aged between 14 and 25 years to become involved in a balanced programme of voluntary self-development activities to take them through the potentially difficult period between adolescence and adulthood.

The Award’s concept is one of individual challenge, giving young people a balanced, non-competitive programme of voluntary activities which encourage personal discovery and growth, self-reliance, perseverance, responsibility to themselves and service to their community. Those who participate in the Award are expected to follow its requirements in a non-competitive manner with a determination to succeed, either individually or as part of a team. The Award therefore is challenging, and can be undertaken at your own pace.

The Participation Age is between 14 and 25 years. The basic structure of the Award consists of 4 mandatory sections Voluntary Service, Adventurous Journey, Skills and Physical Recreation. There are 3 levels of the Award – Bronze, Silver and Gold. Participants must complete the four mandatory sections of Voluntary Service, Adventurous Journey, Skill and Physical Recreation. In the year 2019- 2020, 26 students were awarded the Bronze Medal for their participation in the Programme.

Scouts
Students from Grade 6 to 8 participate in the Bharat Scouts Programme in Sacred Heart School. SCHOOL ANTHEM
Glory be to Sacred Heart
In the highest of the high
All God’s children safe within
The light of Sacred Heart
Take me just for what I am
And show me right from wrong
Lead me always to triumph
With peace and wisdom strong
Sacred Heart will Persevere
To strive and achieve and never fear
And Learn to be
Number one
And the Lord will lead us on
With Sacred Heart
Praise, O’ Mother of us all
We raise our hearts and sing
The light of Sacred Heart will shine
When all God’s children sing
Sacred Heart we’ll persevere
Guide me Lord through every trail
Take me by my hand
Teach me from your golden book
And make me understand.
